Arctic factory trawler launch

The newly completed NB1102, soon to be named, Gadus, is the second trawler completed for P/F JFK within the space of two months.

Impressive turnaround

Gadus measures in at 88.1 metres long and 18.3 metres wide and is an advanced fishing vessel, technologically sophisticated factory trawler capable of triple trawling. 

The vessel will now be outfitted with a shrimp factory, an advanced fillet factory and a fishmeal and fish oil plant. In addition there will be arrangement for freezing of pelagic species on the vessel.

The Skipsteknik designed vessel will have accommodation for 43 people on board with spacious and comfortable living places. It will be capable for efficiently trawling in icy and arctic waters and planned to be delivered in the last quarter of 2022.

It’s slightly smaller sister vessel, the NB1105 Arctic Freezer Trawler, named Emerald, was launched in May.

Tersan has been diversifying its business and is also now catering more for the renewables and future fuels markets.

In June, it signed a contract with Acta Marine Netherlands for two DP2 Construction Service Operating Vessels (CSOVs) powered with Methanol and MDO/HVO. Two more optional vessels will be secured at a later stage of the contract period.

Designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS with the cooperation of Acta Marine, the two vessels are planned to serve in the offshore wind construction market. They are equipped with a TWIN-X stern, an integrated walk-to-work gangway system, 3D crane and hotel styled accommodation areas.
