Removing collapsed container stacks can be complicated and dangerous (Gard)

As the size and cargo capacity of seagoing vessels increase, so does the risk of loss. A study by marine insurance group Gard points out some of the risk factors.

The growing fleet of ultra-large container ships have capacities of more than 23,000teu, which means that when they encounter problems while on passage the financial implications are magnified accordingly.
