Damen Shipyards has created a new position for Martin Bloem, who starts with the firm as group director corporate affairs on the first day of next year.
Bloem was involved with the shipbuilding sector during his work at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, before becoming general director of the industry association Netherlands Maritime Technology.
He was then made partner at the maritime consultancy Marstrat, and held public-private positions in the Rotterdam region, Damen says.
“I consider it an honour to be part of a dynamic and innovative organisation like Damen, Bloem said. “I look forward to contributing to the success and continued growth of the company. My public and private network will certainly help in that respect.”
Damen Shipyards Group has been operating for more than 90 years, with a global network offering design, construction, conversion, and repair of ships and ship components.
The company has 35 shipyards and 20 other companies in 20 countries around the world.
