JDR Cable Systems has signed a contract with Siem Offshore Contractors to carry out work for the inter array cable system of the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm

Following the signing of a contract with Germany-headquartered Siem Offshore Contractors (SOC), JDR will carry out the work for the inter array cable system of the 588 MW £2.6bn BOWL project.

JDR has previously been awarded the design, manufacture and supply contract for the inter array cables on the same project by SOC in August 2016.

More than half of the submarine composite cables produced have successfully passed factory acceptance tests (FAT) and now await load-out for installation by SOC, which is scheduled to commence later this year.

Located approximately 13km off the Caithness coast line in the Outer Moray Firth, BOWL features 84 x 7 MW wind turbine generators (WTGs) and two offshore transformer modules (OTMs), which will be inter-connected by 91 x 33kV medium voltage alternating current submarine composite cables totalling up to 164km in length.

BOWL is owned by SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%).
