Horizon Geosciences in the UAE, which also has bases in Bristol, UK and Mumbai, India, has extended its vessel fleet with own-development of a compact nearshore survey boat designed for use in extreme shallow waters at depths of 2m or less.
An inaugural model is already operational in Abu Dhabi for an un-named client.
Weighing four tonnes and suitable for a wide range of tasks in remote locations, the vessel is equipped to carry out a full range of geophysical, environmental and ROV-type surveys. Easily launched from either land or a mother-ship crane, it has a hull-mounted echosounder with additional bow and side mounts for geophysical equipment; there are also facilities for deploying a sidescan sonar and magnetometer in addition to grab samplers and other water sampling equipment. The survey workstation is equipped with AIS, a GPS plotter and an autopilot.
