Dutch firm wins first contract in Taiwan

Ampelmann’s contract with Seaway 7 is also the first time an Ampelmann system will be deployed for an offshore wind job in Asia. The company will have one of its A-type systems mobilised on Seaway Strashnov, a Heavy Lift Vessel capable of lifting structures up to 5000Mt.

During an approximately two-month period, Seaway Strashnov will operate during the construction of an offshore wind farm (OWF) in Taiwan. With this project Ampelmann will be supporting through the construction phase while installing Jackets for the OWF.

“Ampelmann has a lot of experience in the offshore wind sector in other regions and we are glad to be able to use those experiences to deliver a high quality service to our clients when they are entering new frontiers,” said Ramesh Namasivayam, Commercial Manager, Ampelmann for Australia, India, Indonesia & Taiwan. “We will service this project from our office in Singapore. With our local presence, we are closer to the client and the project site allowing us to mobilise swiftly and provide extensive support.”

Currently, wind farms in Taiwan have a capacity of 850MW. Taiwan aims to raise the capacity of power of its wind farms to 5.5GW by 2025. More offshore wind projects are on their way and Ampelmann said it looks forward to assisting with those as well.
