Simulated port navigation training
Training organisers ECDIS Ltd. launched at Seawork their Port Creation service, enabling ship crews to rehearse navigation operations within ports in three dimensions.
Customers will be able to have a port’s key landmarks and navigational aids precisely created in 3D so that they can then undergo familiarisation operations at the company’s training centre in Whiteley, near Fareham. Alternatively, crew personnel can deploy the 3D modelling facility to create their own custom-built simulator for onsite training.
For simulator programs bathymetry is accurately modelled to allow requisite manoeuvres and ship-handling to be verified. Similarly, topography, key landmarks and specific navigation aids are also fully recreated to form a complete responsive simulated environment for realisation of ultra-realistic training scenarios.
