Belgian organization looks to UK expansion – by David Goodfellow
GEOxyz of Zwevegem in Belgium, which has a secondary base in Lille, France, is looking to establish similar facilities in the UK, according to company director Erwin Leys during an interview at last month’s Seawork International exhibition.
Founded in 2003, the 40 strong organisation specialises in providing a complete range of hydrographic and geophysical services as well as geotechnical, offshore support and land based topographic activities. It presently maintains an assortment of eight vessels which will be boosted by the addition of a new 16m support and survey catamaran early next year.
Current operations are being carried out off the West African coast while those in Europe include monitoring of maintenance dredging work in and around the French ports of Boulogne and Calais as well as a number of projects in Belgium and Holland. The company is also presently completing pre and post-dredging surveys at Great Yarmouth on behalf of Dredging International, using its 11m catamaran Geosurveyor II.
