MH370 lecture
This year’s IMarEST (The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology) Stanley Gray Lecture will focus on the technologies being used in the search for Malaysian Airways Flight MH370.
The disappearance of MH370 in March 2014 is one of the great mysteries in aviation of recent times. While this is not the first event of its kind, it is certainly one with the largest loss of life. The presentation describes the events around the disappearance, the analysis of satellite data determining the search area, the seabed information before the start of the search, all phases of the search program, the choice of survey equipment and vessels and the latest survey and search results. This lecture will be focused on the search for Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.
The lecturer, Rob Luijnenburg’s, career spans a period of almost forty years in the offshore survey and oil & gas business starting in the Hydrographic Office of the Royal Netherlands Navy, pipeline engineering with R.J.Brown and Ass. survey with NeSA, and in contracting with Van Oord. He is currently Director Strategy and Communication at Fugro NV. Prior to that, he held positions in Fugro as Business Line Manager and Regional Manager and he holds an MSc in Civil engineering from Delft University of Technology.
