Cox Marine replaces CEO weeks after strategy shift

Outboard manufacturer Cox Marine has replaced its CEO just two weeks after it announced a shift in business strategy to focus on output rather than R&D.

In May, the company quoted then CEO Gavin Wesson as saying the company was focusing on sustainable growth, which it would do ‘by consolidating our business development efforts and focusing on key strategic partnerships’.

Now the company has said that with effect from July 1, Wesson will become non-executive chairman and will be replaced by George Bramley, who will remain as chief financial officer.

James Eatwell becomes chief technical officer, and has been appointed to ‘spearhead the company’s technological vision, providing direct technical leadership and aligning engineering and product improvement initiatives with overarching business objectives to enhance product and business performance’.

Cox Marine is about to put its 350 V8 diesel outboard into production, having already gone through the validation process.

”The launch of the 350 V8 represents a significant milestone, and I am excited to lead the company through this crucial transition to series production and beyond,” said new CEO George Bramley.

The V8 is a variant of its diesel outboard architecture, Cox says, and is now ready to go for commercial and recreational applications. It meets stringent (but evolving) emissions standards set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, which has given the green light to Cox Marine to begin production.
