Sea Tech Week

The city of Brest in particular has put a great deal of effort into their development. Evidence of this lies in the major revamping undertaken by the Breton Region on the low-lying land that houses the commercial port. This 40-hectare site could well play host to a technological platform dedicated to the MRE and maritime access.

Three meetings are scheduled on the theme of marine energies during Sea Tech Week. The proposed conferences will focus on the following topics: Channel MOR, Marine Energy Brest and biofouling.

Channel MOR
Channel MOR is a European project aimed at favouring access to the marine renewable energy markets. Destined for businesses, it notably assists them with networking in the English Channel area.

Marine Energy Brest
The series of conferences proposed by Marine Energy Brest stretches over three days, on 14, 15 and 16 October. This symposium showcases seven projects in the MRE domain, which have progressed to different stages. The idea behind it is to enable a comparison of the different technologies principally developed in Brittany and provide an opportunity to meet the protagonists involved in these projects. The majority of the marine energies will be represented: tidal, marine, floating and fixed foundation wind turbines as well as a multiple technology project.

Biofouling
This workshop is a first in France, as it gathers together the main protagonists (scientific and private), who work in the areas of fouling and antifouling in France. The phenomenon of biofouling, corresponds with the colonisation of sea equipment by microorganisms, invertebrates and algae… It is vital for submerged structures using marine renewable energies (marine current and floating wind turbines…,) to protect themselves from this phenomenon to ensure optimum operating levels. Different types of antifouling are used to help prevent these organisms from infesting installations.
