WTG installations at Trianel Borkum II

The project has been awarded by wind turbine maker Senvion GmbH and will feature Senvion 6.3M152 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.33MW.

Jan De Nul said it will also undertake offshore mechanical completion works as part of the project.

2019 start

Installation work is expected to start spring 2019.

Jan De Nul is also in charge of the installation of the HVAC export cable and 36 monopiles and transition pieces for Trianel Borkum II, located 45km to the north of the German island of Borkum.

Additionally, the company is installing the HVAC export cable for the Offshore Wind Farm Borkum Riffgrund II.

40 wind turbines were installed in Trianel Borkum II’s first phase, generating 200MW. When complete, Trianel Borkum II will have up to 80 wind turbines and provide 400MW. It will have the capacity to supply about 200,000 households with eco-electricity.

German municipal utilities network Trianel GmbH holds a 37.99% stake in Trianel Borkum II, while utility EWE AG owns 37.5%. The remaining 24.51% stake is held by Zurich-based municipal utility Elektrizitaetswerk der Stadt Zuerich (EWZ) and its investment partner Fontavis.
