Red Ensign adds new facility
UK-based training organisation, Red Ensign, is expanding its range of facilities with a new training barge.
The barge has been equipped with Schat Harding davits and a lifeboat for the delivery of STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (PSCRB) courses.
It will also be used in security and crisis management courses, giving trainees a realistic scenario.
Kate Hilborn, general manager, told Maritime Journal: “The barge was added to provide launch facilities for our lifeboat which has enabled us to offer PSCRB courses and we know there’s ongoing demand for theses, or so our clients tell us. Our course for June is already full and we’re fielding plenty of enquiries for the remainder of the year. The ability to combine this course with the STCW Fast Rescue Boat course is proving to be popular.”
“When the barge was towed here from London as a rusting hulk I had a picture in my head of how it would look and the incredible hard work and determination of all our staff in restoring it has made that picture a reality,” added Andrew Dale, director.
Red Ensign will be exhibiting at Mercator Media Ltd’s Seawork International 2014, taking place from 10 to 12 June at ABP’s Port of Southampton. Visit them on stand A305.
