Sika chases emerging markets
UK based Sika Ltd, leading bonding, sealing, damping and reinforcing expert, will exhibit for the first time at Seawork International this year, in order to tap up business in the workboat sector, an emerging new market for the company.
The Sikafloor® range includes products to help reduce noise and vibration carried through the air and the vessel structure, making it considerably more comfortable for crew members on board.
Jo Raven, Sika Ltd, said: “The workboat sector is an emerging market for us and we are producing some really fantastic products for this sector, such as decorative flooring and marine acoustic flooring. We’re very excited about presenting these solutions at the exhibition.”
Sika’s portfolio includes the two-component, fire retarding polyurethane Sikafloor® Marine PU-Red, which is part of the range of products that form the Sikafloor® visco-elastic systems and visco-elastic floating floors. Sikafloor® Marine PU-Red can be applied to floors and bulkheads to provide noise and vibration damping.
The mortar based product Sikafloor®-Marine 18 can be used as a constrained layer on top of Sikafloor® Marine PU-Red to provide a multi-layer system before the deck finish materials are applied. This deck covering can be walked on after just 24 hours of application.
Sika’s technical support team also assists with flooring system selection, validation and application. A fully accredited installer is available to ensure efficient application of the flooring system, whether the vessel is docked or at sea.
