8 expressions of interest at Portsmouth
UK commercial property agent Lambert Smith Hampton has confirmed to Maritime Journal that it has received eight expressions of interest from potential tenants from the UK and mainland Europe for Shipyard Portsmouth, the site of the former BAE Systems facility at the Royal Navy base in Portsmouth.
The agents are now working with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the Ministry of Defence’s property and services provider, to assess the merits of each bid and identify the most suitable tenant for the site. Lambert Smith Hampton asked UK and international maritime and general engineering companies to submit expressions of interest ahead of a 30 June deadline.
Shipyard Portsmouth is situated centrally within the Naval Base. It provides a large scale, modern and secure manufacturing facility of up to 500,000 sq ft, with transportation links by both land and sea through Portsmouth Harbour. Facilities include the ship hall, two docks, plate cutting facilities, workshops with overhead craneage, stores and administration offices, which are fully integrated into the HM Naval Base Portsmouth.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the Ministry of Defence’s property and services provider, is looking for a tenant that will utilise the unique opportunities presented by the site and its skilled workers.
