Saving weight with 4mm aluminium construction
The Paroc Light Marine launch series has introduced new lightweight insulated solutions for A60 aluminium constructions enabling significant weight and cost reductions in the ship building industry.
The new A60 solutions are tested and approved for 4mm thick aluminium decks and bulkheads. Compared with the commonly used standard 6mm aluminium structures, the weight decrease is more than 5kg/m2 when using the new solution. The total weight of the construction decreases significantly, which brings huge savings in running costs. Taking into account the price of the aluminium the total cost savings are remarkable, claims Paroc.
Paroc claims to be one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of energy-efficient and fire-proof insulation solutions. In 2017, Paroc net sales amounted to MEUR 411 and the company employed around 1840 people. Paroc is a part of Owens Corning.
