Nimbus Group reports 15% drop in sales

Sweden-based Nimbus Group, the primarily leisure craft boatbuilder that also has a foothold in rescue, patrol and harbour craft, has declared a 15% drop in sales for Q4 2025.

For the year overall, it posted a fall of 16.6%.

Despite being best known as a leisure boatbuilder, the Nimbus Group has foothold in the commercial marine market through its Alukin brand, which includes rugged aluminium boats used by coastguards, police forces, rescue services, harbour authorities and defence customers, particularly across the Nordic region.

These vessels are designed for year-round operations in harsh conditions, prioritising durability, payload and reliability over comfort or styling.

In addition, its Paragon Yachts, while marketed within the leisure segment, are widely regarded as professional-grade craft and are often deployed by pilots, patrol operators and other commercial users who need capable, seaworthy boats rather than pure recreational platforms.

The company has blamed the North American leisure market for its disappointing sales that have happened since a surge was experienced after the Covid-19 outbreak. In North America, sales fell by 53%, the report said. Higher interest rates, inflationary pressures and dealer inventory corrections have all weighed on discretionary spending.

The wider Nimbus Group is headquartered in Sweden, near Gothenburg. Its brand portfolio, including Nimbus, Aquador, Flipper and Falcon, covers day boats, weekenders and cruising boats and it operates across Europe and North America through a combination of production sites, offices and dealer networks.

“During the quarter, we implemented several robust measures to sharpen our commercial capabilities, increase efficiency, and reduce our costs. I am confident that these measures will have the intended impact and contribute to improved results,” said Nimbus Group CEO Johan Inden, who was previously Volvo Penta’s president of the Marine Business Unit.

While Nimbus’s professional and public-sector customers tend to offer more stable demand, this segment is not large enough to offset weakness in leisure sales. As a result, the group has acknowledged the need for cost control and operational adjustments while positioning itself for a market recovery.

For the commercial marine sector, Nimbus’s results underline a familiar contrast: professional small craft remain resilient, but builders with strong exposure to leisure markets are feeling the effects of a slower, more cautious buying environment.
