Senior managers and QHSE professionals from organisations involved in the offshore marine contracting industry will be gathering in Amsterdam in November.

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) Health, Safety & Environment Seminar, will be held at Amsterdam’s Park Plaza Hotel, Schiphol on 19 and 20 November and will consider sustainability from an environmental, health and safety perspective.

Split over two days and starting with a welcome lunch on Day One and finishing with lunch on Day Two, the Seminar, with its theme ‘Shaping a sustainable future’ will provide an opportunity for IMCA members and guests to participate in an industry forum with clear aims. They range from sharing the latest initiatives, including lessons learned, creating best practice, communicating on the latest codes, products and developments, to helping identify common issues and needs between offshore contractors.

Looking forward to the event, Nicholas Hough, Technical Adviser – HSSE explains: “Our focus on Safety and Environmental Sustainability has resulted in sessions devoted to ‘The problem of plastic’; ‘Reducing our Carbon footprint’; ‘Safety – factors shaping a new and sustainable approach’; and the presentation of our annual IMCA Safety and Environmental Sustainability Awards.

“The forum will provide a view of current industry trends, showcase recent initiatives and examine how we can all have a positive impact on sustainability whatever our role or organisation.

“Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions and workshops and, importantly, help shape a sustainable way forward for the programme for IMCA’s HSSE Core Committee and Environmental Sustainability Committee.”

In addition to the lunches on both days, there will be a drinks reception at the end of Day One and coffee breaks providing ample networking opportunities.

Those eager to attend this free event are asked to register their interest at events@imca-int.com as soon as possible; information on sponsorship opportunities is also available from the same email address.

IMCA claims to represent the vast majority of offshore marine contractors and the associated supply chain in the world, with members from over 60 countries. It publishes an extensive technical library of guidance documents on operational good practice, safety promotional materials, timely information notes and safety flashes. Its members benefit from a technical structure comprising four main divisions covering Offshore Diving, Marine, Remote Systems & ROVs, and Offshore Surveying.

These are supported by a committee structure focused on: health, safety, security and the environment; competence and training; lifting and rigging; marine policy and regulatory affairs; and contracts and insurance. The association’s global coverage is organised into five geographic regions: Asia-Pacific, Europe & Africa, Middle East & India, North America, and South America.
