Seawork set for success
Mercator Media Limited’s Seawork International 2015 looks set to be yet another successful event. Held in ABP Docks in Southampton, UK this long-established event embraces an exhibition, innovations showcase, conference and awards ceremony, both shoreside and on the water.
Exhibitors from all corners of the world attend the event, whose offerings cover all aspects of commercial maritime products and services, from abrasion protection, to hydrography, to security, through to crew transfer.
Throughout the exhibition are pavilions and trails, assisting visitors in discovering specific industry sections at the show. Demos are held at regular intervals throughout the three days of the show, with a variety of fascinating products being demonstrated. Last year’s demos ranged from those held in a Dive Tank though to a display by a radical prototype vessel with suspension.
Seawork International 2014 was barely over before stand bookings were confirmed for the 2015 event. Now Seawork International 2015’s sales have rocketed, and far exceed that of previous years already; promising another bumper year for clients and exhibitors, old and new.
Seawork 2014’s business highlights included the signing of an agreement between Burgess Marine and Mainprize Offshore to initially build two 25m wind farm support vessels. Another highlight was Erith-based Kort Propulsion signing an order for 28 tug boats for the Egyptian Army and UK Dredging took over its new, bespoke-built 19C aluminium survey craft, which it had specified at Seawork 2013, from Wales-based Robust Boats.
Dorset-based Dometic UK was selected by fellow exhibitor Safehaven Marine to provide air conditioning systems for several notable new builds, including a unit for the first catamaran in Safehaven’s four-boat contract with the Polish navy.
Seawork 2014 was the first year of exhibiting for Hayling Island-based Marathon Leisure, one of the UK and Ireland’s largest Marine Equipment Distributors. Over three days of Seawork, Marathon Leisure saw great interest from potential clients at its stand.

Held in June on the UKs south coast the weather tends to be superb during the event, providing visitors to the ideal backdrop in which to view and board around 65 vessels afloat, which are directly accessed via walk-on pontoons from the exhibition showground. This ability to step aboard, review and often even test-drive vessels takes the Seawork show into a different league of visitor experience than many of its competitor events.
