Ocean Infinity has been hired by RWE and power company Masdar to perform 3D Ultra High Resolution seismic geophysical surveys for the Dogger Bank South (DBS) West offshore wind farm.
The contract will see Ocean Infinity surveying subsea terrain at each proposed wind turbine foundation site.

Ocean Infinity will deploy its vessel Deep Helder in June for around a month to use its high-resolution 3D geological data technology, all of which can be remotely operated.
Seafloor changes will be monitored and mapped to determine exactly what the seafloor conditions are like for installing the wind farms, which will have a generating capacity of around 3GW in total.
“We are also collecting geotechnical data from the turbine foundation sites to deliver exceptional levels of detail about the subsea conditions, which is invaluable and enables us to identify challenges at the development stage and to put in place appropriate mitigations where required,” said DBS development project manager Colin McAllister.

DBS includes two sites, DBS East and DBS West, more than 100km off the northeast coast of England on Dogger Bank, a shallow area of the North Sea.
RWE leads the project development, construction, and operations on behalf of both RWE and Masdar.
The next step for Masdar is the submission of a Development Consent Order application, expected in the second quarter of 2024. If successful, subsequent steps will include securing Contracts for Difference, followed by financing, construction, and commissioning by 2031.
