Two electric ferries ordered for Denmark
Two electric ferries are to be built at Turkey’s Cemre Shipyard, destined for Denmark’s Bøjden-Fynshav and Ballen-Kalundborg routes.
Designed by OSK-ShipTech, the 116.8m x 18.2m RoRo/RoPax ferries are double ended and will operate 100% using batteries.
“The vessels are to be designed to comply with autonomous functionality according to fulfil BV notations, ie auto-crossing and auto-docking operations, allowing for optimised operation while increasing the energy efficiency of the ferry,” says Cemre.
There will be four back-up generators, but they will be fuelled by hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) rather than diesel, each with 493kW output.
