Meercat Boats appoints business manager
UK-based multirole steel workboat builder Meercat Boats has appointed John Buck as its business manager to strengthen its management team.
Coming from a strong production engineering and manufacturing management background, Mr Buck’s work over the past three years has included the build and sale of new commercial vessels.
Mr Buck commented: “I am delighted to join Meercat Boats. The business is highly regarded as a builder of superior quality and highly versatile workboats. I look forward to help take Meercat to the next stage in its development.”
Valuable talent
Glenn Springett, shareholder director of Meercat Boats, commented: “We are thrilled to have John on board. He brings a wealth of experience spanning business development, fabrication and production management, therefore is ideally suited to his new role at Meercat Boats.”
Ric Haselhurst, who joined Meercat Boats as production manager in 2016, has been promoted to head of production.
MRV22
Meercat Boats has recently launched its largest vessel to date, the 22m multirole vessel MRV22. This craft has landing craft capabilities, thanks to its bow door configuration, and will be officially handed over to its new owners at Seawork 2019.
In February, Meercat Boats announced it had been awarded the build contract for a 15m steel workboat for Guernsey Harbours to use for harbour support duties. In December 2018, the company delivered a 15m multirole vessel to the Scottish Salmon Company for use in aquaculture support operations.
In May 2018, Topbond Plc Group announced its acquisition of Meercat Boats, formerly called Meercat Workboats, which went into administration in November 2017, while owned by Burgess Marine.
Meercat Boats will be exhibiting at Seawork 2019 on stand PB40.
