FIAT launches new engine at Seawork

The N67 560 is the outcome of extensive testing carried out in the field during two of the longest and most prestigious powerboat races, the Round Britain Race and the Cowes – Torquay – Cowes race, both held last year and both won by the new engine.

Red FPT, the Fabio Buzzi designed boat powered by four FPT N67 Evolution turbodiesel engines each developing 600 bhp, won the 2008 Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race only weeks after the victory of Blue FPT, powered by three standard production N60 turbodiesel engines each developing 480 bhp, in the 2008 Round Britain Race, the longest offshore race worldwide.

With its performance, reliability, robustness, reduced size and low weight, this engine is not only a winning product in racing applications, but will also prove to be popular in standard production pleasure craft, light duty commercial craft and patrol boats.

Producing 560hp (412kW) at 3,000 rpm, an with excellent weight to power ratio of 1.16 hp/kg (the previous industry leader was 1.28 Kg/Hp), and common rail electronic injection, the N67 560 promises high performance and low fuel consumption in compliance with current legislative regulations on the reduction of gas and acoustic emissions. The six cylinder 6.7 litre engine has a dry weight of only 650kg.
