The International Marine Contractors Association, which now has nearly 600 members in 52 countries, has updated its definitive handbook on digital video. The new version provides an understanding of the latest digital video technology developments, the benefits available over existing analogue recording methods, and practical applications.
It also discusses issues affecting development of standards within the survey industry while describing how data is captured, synchronised with traditional survey information, and compiled into digital reports for presentation to clients.
There are sections variously dedicated to video data for offshore survey and inspection; current technology; management and delivery of data; integration with survey data and future developments. Appendices cover explanations of digital video terminology, current recording media technology, and transmission systems and umbilicals.
