Navaids Maintenance Double for VTMS
Leicester UK based VTMS Ltd has signed two major navaids maintenance contracts. VTMS will service and maintain the buoys and beacons of Forth Ports PLC in the rivers Forth and Tay over a five year period. A similar contract has been signed with Associated British Ports to service and maintain their buoys in the South Wales ports of Newport, Cardiff, Barry, Port Talbot and Swansea.
Sealite claims the new GSM based monitoring system makes the maintenance of navaids as easy as sending an SMS text message from your cell phone directly to a marine lantern.
For the Forth Ports contract VTMS has established a yard and maintenance facility at Burntisland in Fife while the ABP contract will be covered from VTMS premises in Swansea.
