Sealite Dukes it out in Java

This year Sealite’s environmentally friendly GSM Cellphone Monitoring & Alarm System, which enables the status of marine navigation lanterns to be efficiently monitored from anywhere around the world, beat thousands of other entries to win the International Duke’s Choice Award.

The advanced GSM system is internally integrated into a range of Sealite lanterns with no external aerials or base station required. Each lantern is fitted with its own SIM card, which provides a designated cellphone contact number or each GSM enabled lantern, allowing users to interrogate and receive auto reply SMS and/or secure web portal lantern diagnostics.

The second generation GSM Cellphone Monitoring System has been improved and modified, allowing Sealite to produce an even more advanced and user friendly system. Usinga new Motorola platform, it features a new quad-band antenna for worldwide deployment, an easier set-up and command structure, whilst consuming less power and monitoring battery voltage levels, charge rates and load all in one module.

The management of Parks Victoria, which is the caretaker of 13 marine national parks and 11 marine sanctuaries in Victoria, Australia, is dedicated to preserving the natural heritage of the parks, bays and waterways of the region, including Port Phillip Bay and the Yarra River. Using Sealite’s GSM technology, government employees are becoming increasingly sophisticated in achieving their environmental management targets, including the reduction of on-site maintenance calls and disturbance to environmentally sensitive sites.

Parks Victoria undertook a large scale deployment of Sealite’s GSM enabled lanterns. Over 40 SLC420-GSM self contained marine lanterns are being installed in various sites around Port Phillip Bay.

Sealite’s GSM Monitoring & Alarm System is currently in service at a number of sites around the world, including the Port of Callao in the Philippines, the Pasig River in Peru, and in Ausstralia’s major ports.
