Scrabster Harbour Trust invites bids for major re-development – by David Foxwell

Bids are being invited for the redevelopment and upgrade of the Old Fish Market Pier at Scrabster Harbour in Caithness in Scotland.

According to the Harbour Trust, the project will provide improved deepwater berthing facilities, increased lay down and open storage areas, and a heavy lift quayside capability. The proposed project will also see the water depth increased to form a new turning basin in the harbour.

The contract is understood to include design, construction, testing and commissioning of the redeveloped pier, including 320m of new quay walls. The contractor appointed to carry out the work will also be responsible for dredging and disposal of 200,000m3 of material.
