‘Hybrid ready’ transmission launched at SMM
ZF Marine used the occasion of SMM in Hamburg to debut its ‘hybrid ready’ transmission model ZF 9300 PTI, which is suitable for all types of fast vessels and workboats powered by engines up to 3,700 kW (5,000 hp) at 2,100 rpm.
Representing ZF Marine’s latest development on hybrid technology, the ZF 9300 PTI is ready to be matched with electric engines for hybrid propulsion systems. The transmission is available in many configurations, with ratios from 1.5 to 5.2. Depending on the application, these gearboxes are available with light alloy or cast iron housings and various accessories are offered, including PTOs, trolling valves, trailing pumps, etc.
SMM further revealed ZF Marine’s capability for hybrid propulsion solutions with ‘hybrid-ready’ transmission series 4661 and 24300 offering environmental protection and fuel savings to its customers. These new hybrid propulsion solutions can be installed in most marine applications, such as ferries, offshore supply vessels and many more.
Transmission model ZF 24300 is the latest in a range of light weight high power transmissions of the 24000 series. These transmissions, also available for hybrid propulsion systems, allow for maximum installation flexibility in customized projects with special hull design, as well as in standard applications. The ZF 24300 is available as a reversing gearbox with configurations DR (diagonal right) and DL (diagonal left) and designed for medium duty applications for power up to 5,300 kW (7,100 hp) at 2,000 rpm and a ratio range from 3.5 to 8.7.
Cooperation between ZF Marine and Siemens ensures development and delivery of complete hybrid propulsion solutions tailored to the needs of the customer. Siemens acts as a preferred partner of ZF and provides the electrical motors and the entire electrical power periphery and ensures integration of the complete system. However ZF Marine is able to provide the mechanical system in conjunction with other electrical system suppliers as well.
