MCA contract for Netsurvey
Netsurvey of Banbury UK, now part of the Swedish MMT Group, has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency for hydrographic survey work under Lot 2 of its Civil Hydrography Programme (CHP).
The contract covers acquisition of information for updating UK Hydrographic Office nautical charts and publications. It follows a similar contract recently awarded to Southampton based EMU.
Covering UK seabed areas totaling more than 750,000 sq/km, the CHP makes extensive use of geographic information systems (GIS) to prioritise survey regions using dynamic risk analysis methods capable of reflecting changing maritime pressures. Much of the work presently commissioned for the Programme is carried out by selected contractors providing turnkey solutions over shallow to medium water depths.
