Fast patrol boats for French Gendarmerie

Designed by naval architects Camarc, this new patrol boat was sold by Raidco Marine of Lorient and built by Ufast in Quimper, France. The vessel achieved in excess of the required 33 knots during trials.

The newly designed 11m patrol boat is completely different to previous patrol boats delivered by Raidco Marine, with new features for monitoring and intervention. Using VSMP modeling (virtual symmetric multiprocessing architecture) Camarc designed the vessels to be unsinkable and provide coastal surveillance missions in the nautical band 5, including drug, terrorism and immigration interdiction.

A hard chine deep V-shaped hull gives the vessel a combines high performance and exceptional sea keeping qualities for these patrolling roles. The UFC 11.00 Alu is capable of reaching high chase speeds, as it is powered by twin Yanmar 6 LPA STP engines rated 315 hp at 3,800 rpm coupled to twin Ultra Dynamics’ UltraJet UJ305s waterjets via ZF63 reduction gearboxes. During sea trials the patrol boat reached a speed of 34 knots. Reverse and steering is via an Ultra Dynamics hydro-mechanical control system.

The patrol boat features a wheelhouse providing a full 360° field of vision. There is a mini-galley, work station, dinette and toilet, enabling six people to cruise comfortably.

The following seven patrol boats for the Gendarmerie Nationale will be delivered by the end of June.
