ESG enhances survey capabilities
Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG), which claims to be the UK’s leading provider of site investigation services for over-water and land projects, has boosted its resources with the addition of a dedicated inshore survey vessel, MV Pulsar.
Built by Cheetah Marine at its Ventnor, Isle of Wight premises and operated by ESG’s subsidiary, Pelorus Surveys of Deeside, North Wales, the 7.2m road-transportable catamaran is designed for surveys in inter-tidal waters, rivers and lakes.
With a rapid deployment and recovery capability, it typically negates time delays while reducing costs incurred during sea transit, said survey manager, Russell Venning. He added that the craft’s softer ride in rough or head seas also contributes to enhanced safe working, faster data acquisition and less time lost due to bad weather, all of which ensure particularly cost effective survey solutions.
Allowing for marine surveys to overlap with land based topographical and geophysical studies to provide integrated datasets, the new acquisition has already been deployed for several projects in demanding nearshore and estuary environments.
