GEO.xyz expands catamaran fleet
GEO.xyz of Zwevegem has extended its fleet of multi-purpose catamarans with the addition of a fifth vessel, Geosurveyor VIII.
Able to operate up to 60nm from a safe haven and with a top speed of 28 knots, it adds to the Belgian company’s capability for providing services to renewable energy, dredging and marine construction sectors as well as on behalf of local and national government agencies.
The company reports that it has recently been awarded a long term contract in the Netherlands for completion of multibeam and sidescan sonar surveys in the approach channels to Rotterdam and Ijmuiden, for which it has invested in an L-3 Klein 5000 sidescan sonar with a dedicated computer controlled winch.
