Kongsberg introduces Remus 100-S AUV

Kongsberg Maritime of Norway now offers a hydrographic and offshore survey version of its widely used series of Remus 100 AUV’s, the Remus 100-S.

According to company officials at Seawork last month, the 72.6 inch system allows for economic overnight shipping and can be deployed and operated by just two people. It also eliminates any need for larger vessels and costly special handling equipment.

Incorporating a Kongsberg inertial navigation unit, a NavP navigation processing suite and a payload processor for initiation and control of all sensors, the new version features a field replaceable antenna, a precision GPS sensor and 1GB Ethernet for high speed downloading of data. Quoted mission time is typically 10 hours at 3 knots, depending on specified speed and sensor configuration in addition to operating environments and mission programs.

With a maximum operating depth of 100m, Remus 100-S is said to be ideal for hydrographic and pre and post-dredging surveys, channel monitoring, pipeline inspection, search and recovery operations, and rapid environmental assessments. Among the first reported users is EIVA, the Danish rental and sales organisation.
