New boat on job for German cable project
Braveheart Shipping baptised its Javelin 22.22 Guardian last month and straight after the ceremony the vessel was en route to its first job on the TenneT export cable project.
Spread over 56km2, this wind farm near Borkum Island, Germany, is the first fully large scale municipal offshore project in Europe.
Guardian will operate in the working area at Borkum for Boskalis Heinrich Hirdes. The objective is to clear the area of dumped ammunition. The ship will be detecting the ammunition on the bed, divers will be picking it up with the Guardian then transporting it out of the area.
This wind farm construction and maintenance vessel is the first Javelin built and developed by Javelin International in cooperation with KD Workboats. It has a gyro stability system and the roll and pitch of the vessel was tested and calculated by the Marin Institute in Wageningen, the Netherlands. This results in the Guardian being useful for work in the A3 sea area where TenneT ECP is being constructed.
