Hydro12 Set for Rotterdam
President of the International Hydrographic Organization, Captain Robert Ward is to provide the opening address at the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies’ 17th European conference in Rotterdam from 13-15 November.
Other keynote speakers for the three day event are Peter Harris of Geoscience Australia; Mark Heine of Fugro Survey, Netherlands; Steve Shipman of the UK; and Terje Torsnes of Geological Survey of Norway.
Staged by Hydrographic Society Benelux aboard SS Rotterdam, the former Holland America liner now permanently moored at the local port, the event is expected to attract well over 300 worldwide delegates with its chosen theme, ‘Taking Care of the Sea’. More than 50 papers and poster sessions are due to be presented by speakers from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, UK and the US.
Proceedings are supported by an exhibition of equipment and services featuring over 40 leading companies and organisations while there will also be on-water equipment demonstrations in addition to a number of associated fringe meetings and social activities.
Featured conference topics are wide-ranging and cover Standards of Competence & Training, Education, Remote Sensing, Positioning, Processing Techniques, Bathymetrics, Multibeam Operations, Dredging & Wind Farm Surveys, Remote Offshore Methods, Pipeline & Port Survey Operations, Lidar, and Quality Assurance.
