New survey ship commissioned
French shipyard H2X in Ciotat, near Marseille, reports that it is to build a 43m monohull survey vessel for an un-named Saudi Arabian university specialising in hydrographic and oceanographic studies.
Designed to operate over depths down to 2,000m, it is scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2014 with contracts for onboard systems due to be awarded over the next few months.
H2X sales director Charles Nissard said a comparable 15m dual hull vessel has also just been delivered to the university.
