Insight Marine develops online survey system

Cubit, an integrated online survey system providing multiple levels of redundancy and automatic failsafe protection, has been developed by Insight Marine Projects of Cornwall UK in aid of its wide ranging specialist services for construction support projects.

Designed in association with computer based measurement and automation equipment manufacturers Amplicon, and Veripos, the leading GNSS offshore positioning organisation, the integrated system is housed in a single ruggedised transit case suitable for rapid installation aboard vessels of opportunity. Configuration for specific projects can be carried out ahead of operations, saving valuable mobilisation time. Survey facilities include Differential GPS, Attitude and Heading Reference (AHRS) and QINSy acquisition and processing software.

According to Insight Marine’s Alex Richards, Cubit goes well beyond standard modular survey packages by providing an array of hardware and software configurations aimed at mitigating potential failure scenarios. Designed around central themes of maximum redundancy and fault tolerance, it is ideally suited for time-critical marine construction projects where actual working intervals can sometimes be restricted to just minutes. For those operations heavily reliant upon temporary navigation facilities in energetic tidal and similar critical conditions, any system failure can have significant financial consequences.
