Reson extends range
Reson, the Danish specialist supplier of echosounders and associated equipment, which is currently being acquired by Teledyne Technologies of the US, has extended its range of multibeam systems with introduction of a new portable or hull mountable model, the SeaBat 7160.
Designed for marine exploration, seafloor habitat mapping and hydrographic charting in medium to deep waters between 3m and 3,000m, the system provides up to 512 high density equidistant beams with a selection of coverage modes including such features as variable and steerable swathe together with real-time pitch and roll stabilisation. It also permits acquisition of high density water column data as part of a processing unit.
The company, which claims to have sold around 1,400 comparable sounders worldwide over the last 30 years, says the new system represents a significant upgrade of its widely used SeaBat 8160 unit, citing freqency modulated transmission combined with advanced signal processing techniques for securing optimum performance.
