Italian Hydro Society joins IFHS
Following an interim two years as an associate member, the Italian Hydrographic Society (IHS) has been elected a full member of the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies comprising national organisations in Australasia, Benelux, Denmark, Germany, South Africa and the UK.
Based in Catania, Sicily, the IHS is a non-profit enterprise representing leading hydrographic surveying individuals and organisations throughout Italy. A planned growth in membership and wider participation in both domestic and international survey activities as part of the IFHS and its member societies are among its main objectives, according to its president, Aldo Monaca of Explorer Marine SBoSS. The IFHS, which has a collective worldwide individual and institutional membership in over 70 countries, is based in Plymouth, UK.
