Onboard multi-beam demos at Ocean Business
R2SONIC and their UK distributors, Swathe Services, have teamed up with MSDS Marine and their dedicated survey vessel Shogun to demonstrate the SONIC 2024 and SONIC 2020 multi-beam echosounders at Ocean Business 2013.
Customers will be able to see first hand the Ultra High Resolution (UHR) 700 kHz with 0.3° beam width resolution and TruePix capabilities of the system.
Demonstrations will take place hourly for those who visit the R2SONIC stand to reserve a place on a demonstration.
Shogun is an MCA Category 2 catamaran modified to significantly minimise survey equipment mobilisation time when compared to many other vessels in its class. The vessel includes dedicated mountings for a variety of survey equipment including multi-beam heads, GPS antenna for positioning and vector heading capability, IMUs or MRUs, all off which have been land surveyed in order to provide accurate and repeatable offsets.
Shogun is fitted with a range of other survey equipment including an A-frame, large stern gates and port and starboard survey poles. For the demonstrations Shogun will be fitted with SONIC 2024 and SONIC 2020 multi-beam echosounders; an Applanix POS MV WaveMaster with an IP68 submersible IMU; a SeaBed RTK positioning system, and Valeport sound velocity sensors.
