Two in one ECDIS training

ECDIS Ltd of Fareham in Hampshire UK is now offering a course combining generic and type specific training on ECDIS operations.

On completion of the generic module, based on the IMO 1.27 model course, students proceed to the short type specific course, thus qualifying for two approved certificates.

The IMO 1.27 course lasts 40 hours over four or five days and is accredited by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The type specific one, which is accredited by the Nautical Institute, normally takes one day or eight hours and includes presentations and practical exercises on actual ECDIS equipment from JRC, Kelvin Hughes, OSI, PC Maritime, Simrad, Totem and Transas.

ECDIS Ltd says it can also deliver one day localised familiarisation courses aboard mariners’ own vessels equipped with these quoted brands in addition to others from Furuno and Maris.
