ENC web service launched
French company Geomod and its UK partner OceanWise in Hampshire, which in collaboration with Valeport and Wood & Douglas is set to deliver a tidal monitoring, telemetry and display system with eight monitoring stations to the Port of London Authority, have launched an Electronic Navigational Chart web service for delivery of charts direct to desktop and web GIS users or similar applicants.
Using an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) compliant web map facility, the service is available as an online subscription hosted by either OceanWise or as a managed system in a secure environment on customer premises. Solutions are completely scalable for new users while ENCs from different Hydrographic Offices for worldwide coverage can be added at any time.
Claimed advantages for the service include total flexibility with displays in the form of layers to ensure configurable results. It is also possible to display all or only some layers and to switch seamlessly between different ENC scale or use bands. Official IHO S-52 compliant symbology is used as standard, although this can be tailored to meet specific end-user requirements.
