New Teledyne TSS gyrocompass system

Following recent recorded sales of equipment worth £1.7m to Seatronics in Aberdeen, Teledyne TSS of Watford UK has launched a new gyrocompass changeover system for protection of navigation equipment against sudden loss of heading input.

Teledyne TSS’s new gyro changeover system ensures that equipment such as DP control centres, ECDIS and voyage data recorders are never without a gyro input

It is claimed to be the only system on the market capable of countering any failure situation.

Designed to ensure that equipment such as DP control centres, ECDIS units and voyage data recorders are never without a gyro input, the system can be connected to up to four gyrocompasses for automatic or manual switch of throughput in the event of problems with any one unit. It consists of a ruggedised bulkhead mounted enclosure for re-transmission circuits and up to two separate display units with touchscreen panels for provision of a user interface. The availability of two displays provides for rapid operator intervention at key locations on a vessel.
