C-Nav tide measurement package
C-Nav, the US GNSS differential Precise Point Positioning organisation with European bases in Norway, Russia and the UK, has developed a real-time tidal measurement package, C-Tides.
The suite combines the vertical accuracy of the company’s global PPP service delivering decimetre or better accuracies with ocean and coastal tide models.
An online version features real-time filters and vessel dynamics, a choice of worldwide mean sea surface or regional reference frame models, and tidal prediction for mission planning. An alternative offline model provides for data smoothing and outlier rejection, harmonic analysis and a latitude option. Results from either are acceptable for combining with other suitably calibrated vertical components.
Earlier this year the company introduced a novel feature for its receivers, enabling users to access corrections via high power spot-beam satellite internet services delivering 8cm positional accuracies without any need for a base station.
