12,000 digital charts on one DVD
The UK Hydrographic Office plans this summer to supply on a single DVD its Admiralty Vector Chart Service (AVCS), with 12,000 digital charts.
It will provide users with what it says will be faster loading speeds, reduced data handling and fewer warning messages. Weekly updates will also be available on another DVD while there is full compatibility with latest IHO S-63 standards for data protection due to come into force next January.
All AVCS customers will receive a DVD upgrade pack for every vessel from their UKHO chart distributor together with written instructions, technical support videos and installation guides. A 1.1 CD service will also be available later this year for those unable to support the DVD format.
