New Valeport sensor

Hydrographic and oceanographic instrumentation specialist Valeport of Totnes in Devon UK has developed a new radar pulsed k-band radar level sensor designed to operate seamlessly with its TideMaster tidal logger, the VRS-20.

It can be used in either a stand alone mode with integrated GPRS telemetry or be interfaced to third party data loggers.

The company says the system, which is versatile and simple to install, addresses a number of issues traditionally associated with water level measurements. For example, its non-contact technology removes the installation, corrosion and fouling issues of submerged sensors while simplifying datum control. Accuracy and performance remain unaffected by changes in water density and atomospheric conditions. Operating range extends from 0.8m to 20m with a quoted precision of 1mm.
