Sea-Doo for SAR

For many years, near shore and inland search and rescue (SAR) services worldwide have used adapted leisure personal watercraft (PWCs). They are useful due to their shallow water abilities and ease of launch, but above all their jet drives are safer for swimmers than props, and enable close towing of a rescue sled. Now Canadian manufacturer Sea-Doo has cottoned onto this market and have produced a specific SAR version which is now available in Europe.

The Sea-Doo SAR has inflatable sponsons for additional stability

Sea-Doo’s parent company BRP believes it has created the ultimate rescue watercraft. The Sea-Doo SAR design includes a Rotax engine, Sea-Doo’s Closed-Loop Cooling System (CLCS) and its Intelligent Brake and Reverse system. Its dual sponsons and running boards give the Sea-Doo SAR the stability and buoyancy needed in surf and whitewater, while its shallow water features, including shock protective elastomer coating, anti-debris water intake grate, stainless steel wear ring, internal heat exchanger, and shock-protected cooling system, heavy duty front bumper, carbon fibre rear mast with lighting, make the SAR model more suitable than a standard PWC for quick response during natural disasters.
