New Nanni diesels

Nanni is a company which started life based in Italy but which now has its main base located in France but with facilities in several European countries so it now promotes itself as a European company. Nanni specialises in developing marinised versions of established diesel engines and has now added two new engines to their range which are based on John Deere Diesel engines from the US.

These new engines have been developed following a long term agreement with John Deere and they for the Silver Series in the Nanni range. The first engines in the Silver Series, the N6 were introduced last year and now the N9 and the N13 engines have been developed to complete the range. Together these new engines in their various versions can offer power outputs from 290 to 800 hp.

Both of these new ranges of engines are based on 6 cylinder John Deere diesels. The N9 is based on a 9 litre engine and the range starts with a 290 hp engine that operates at a maximum speed of 2100. This engine is designed for heavy duty continuous running which the top unit in the N9 range offers 560 hp with the engine running at 2500 rpm.

The N13 range is based on a 13 litre engine and here the range starts with a 370 hp unit operating at 1800 rpm and there are six versions culminating in the 760 hp version operating at 2200 rpm.

All of these new engines feature a common rail direct injection fuel system and they are turbocharged with aft cooling of the air charge. They are four stroke diesels with four valves per cylinder and the closed cooling system is designed to operate with a seawater heat exchanger or with a keel cooling system.

Nanni claims that these engines are built to a robust design and in keeping with their normal philosophy, they are designed for easy routine servicing. They have replaceable wet cylinder liners and can be used in conjunction with most propulsion systems. They also comply with the EPA Tier III emission standards and matching IMO standards.

These new engines added to the Nanni range now allows the company to offer marine diesels ranging from 10 hp through to 760 hp and with the addition of the MAN range of engines which Nanni markets, the range extends to close to 2000 hp, and they are marketed worldwide.

A new addition to the Nanni portfolio is the range of Marex monitoring and control units which are the latest electronic systems that can also incorporate joystick control.
