Titan LNG pontoon
Several Eastern European builders have been asked to quote for the fabrication of a pontoon that will form the basis of a new LNG bunkering facility in Amsterdam.
“We plan to get the hull fabricated in Eastern Europe where prices are low and then have the pontoon towed to Holland for final fitting out,” said Michael Schaap of Titan LNG. “We are currently finalising the berth for our new pontoon with the Port of Amsterdam”.
“The pontoon, to be named Titan LNG Flex-Fueler, is designed to have a fixed location to supply inland waterway vessels, but can also be navigated to larger sea-going vessels and supply LNG while they load or unload their cargo,” said Schaap.
The pontoon will feature a double bottom and double hull sides with an overall length of 70 metres. The four LNG tanks have already been ordered in Holland and each with a capacity of 300 cubic metres. Twin boom cranes fitted on the deck will be used to handle the transfer hoses and the discharge capacity can range from 30 and to 450 cubic metres of LNG per hour. It is anticipated that the pontoon will be capable of loading and unloading to and from other vessels, trucks and from the shore.
Scheduled to start operations early in 2018 the Flexi Fueler will be capable of being push towed for bunker operations in Rotterdam as well as in its home port of Amsterdam and is aimed at replacing current truck deliveries.
