Fast turnaround for navigation marker
Vessels will be able to safely transit a stretch of water near a nuclear power station thanks to a fast turnaround navaids project.
The marker pile installed by UK based Red7Marine at Middleton Sands, Morecambe, near to Heysham Nuclear Power Station, marks where the outfall pipes terminate at the discharge caissons,
“This particular project is a perfect demonstration of Red7Marine’s fast response to client needs. Our expert team were able to mobilise the barge for a new project within days and now has specialist marine plant in place to service the North West of the UK,” said Kristen Branford, commercial director, Red7Marine.
“It was vital that our team was organised before going to site as the as the project is a long way from port and subject to large changes in tide, sea swells and strong currents, meaning that getting extra equipment to area would be challenging.”
As well as planning the project, Red7Marine provided the plant, materials and an expert marine construction team to facilitate the works and complete the project for James Fisher Marine Services.
The project was completed by a team working from Red7Marine’s Haven Seajack, a jack-up barge with a 100t deck load capacity.
Haven Seajack has just completed a deployment at the Tall Ship Festival in Greenwich, London, where it was part of a fleet creating additional moorings for tall ship crews to access their vessels and prepare for the month-long convoy to Quebec.
